The park is composed of the promontory placed centrally in Gaeta’s gulf and it’s characterized by the presence of many creeks with sandy beaches on a very antro-pizza-ed area…
Places to visit:
In the area they’re kept the remains of the Temple of Janus and of the Roman Port.
Excursions and guided tours:

Stretched on the promontory, at the west border of Gaeta’s gulf, the Park has a rocky area leaning on the sea. A rock rich in caves and breaks: the Sanctuary of the Broken Mountain rises here. The sea in front of it is protected by the WWF Blue Oasis, to keep the marine ecosystem.
Places to visit:
Inside the park there are many historic-archaeological remains like the Mausoleum of the General Lucio Munazio Planco (1st century b.C.) and the Angioino Aragonese Castle.
Gaeta: the Cathedral of St. Erasmus, of roman and gothic architecture and with many Moorish influences; the Diocesan Museum that keeps the big paper sheet in micro-calligraphy of the whole “Divine Comedy”; the Church of St. Annunziata, gothic monument whose construction is dated back to 1321; the bell tower of St. John’s by the sea.

Regional Park of Mounts Aurunci
|

This chain of mountains of calcareous origin, rich in dolinas, wells and underground galleries, stretches behind Gaeta, almost parallelly to the coast. They’re the mounts of orchids: there grow more than fifty species.
Places to visit:
On top of the Redeemer Mount, there’s the Sanctuary of St. Michael (by the climb of St. Michael, twice a year a procession of believers, carries the statue of the Archangel to protect the shepherds). Another tradition, followed by some craftsmen of Itri, is about interlacing a plant called straw, to make baskets and tissues out of it.
Ausonia:
the church of St. Michael built in the 14th century on the remains of a Roman temple dedicated to Hercules; the Sanctuary of Our Lady of the Plan, with a gothic porch with four arches; the remains of the ancient castle.
Esperia: Spinelli Palace from the end of 1400s, the church of Our Holy Major Lady and St. Phillip Neri; the church of Our Lady of Loreto.
Pico: the Farnese castle, the church of Our Holy Lady, the church of Our Lady in the field, the church of St. Cross.
Pontecorvo:
the church of St. Bartolomeo Apostle and the Tower of Rodoaldo, the remains of the medieval walls.
Formia: many meaningful witnesses of the Roman Ages like the theater, Cicero’s Villa, the tombs of Tulliola and Cicero.
Fondi: the church of Our Holy Lady with the huge bell tower, St. Peter’s Cathedral built during the first half of the 12th century, the Palace of the Prince of the 11th century.
Lenola: the Sanctuary of Our Holy Lady of the Hill, the church of Our Holy Major Lady.
Itri: dominated by the remains of the picturesque Castle, placed on the hill of St. Angel. Itri is famous for having given birth to Michele Pezza (1771) known as Father Devil and as a heroic patriot for having been protagonist of terrible battles.

Soriano Camp Natural Monument

The monument stretches on the south facing slope of Mounts Ausoni. Big isolated stones geologically called “hum” that rise from the floor: the most important is called “the cathedral”.
Places to visit:
Sonnino: the church of St. Nichelo Archangel, the Monastery of Canne, the collegiate church of Sts John the Baptist and the Evangelist (11th century), the Museum of the Bandit.
Terracina: the Frangipane Castle, the Temple of Jupiter Anxur.

Nymph Garden Natural Monument
|
|
A small territory that develops on the west side of Lepini Mounts slopes. It includes the important medieval complex of Nymph, inside which they’ve been made the botanic garden and the small lake, using the waters of river Nymph.
Places to visit:
Cori: historical center with Roman remains, the Archaeological Museum, the Chain Bridge built in the Roman Age;
Sermoneta: the medieval historical center, wonderfully kept, surrounded of walls and towered by Castani Castle; you should also see Our Lady’s Cathedral, the churches of St. Joseph and St. Angel, the walls with the bastion of Terranova and the Door of St. Sebastian.
Norma: Archaeological Museum and the remains of the Roman town of Norba..

State Sea-Preserve Islands of Ventotene and St. Stephen
|
During the Roman Empire, the island of Ventotene was probably one great Ville with gardens, a small port, staircases dug in rock. There are visible remains at Eolo’s Point, dedicated to the king of winds. The island of St. Stephen, once siege of a prison, is today part of a preserve with access limited to scientific aims. Ventotene is, instead, a part of preserve where all the activities of keeping the sea-habitat are made.
Places to visit:
Ventotene: Villa Jacono, the Communal Antiquarium that keeps many underwater remains, the Sea-Fish Reserve, the Archaeological Musem and Park including Villa Julia of Eolo’s Point. The Roman waterworks and the Bourbon prison of St. Stephen wanted by king Ferdinand the 4th in 1768.

In the preserve you can do immersions, have skindiver lessons and naturalist and submarine excursions that let you watch wonderful underwater scenarios. A naturalist oasis that includes the Latian tract between Anzio and Terracina, and stretches at the foot of a calcareous promontory sheer above the Tyrrheanian Sea. The territory has four different habitats: the Promontory of the Circeo (maximum height of the park mt 510 of Circe’s Peak); the dunes, made of gray, yellow and siliceous sands; the brackish coast lakes and wet areas (Fogliano, Monaci, Caprolace and Paola); the forest mainly made of broadleaf; the island of Zannone uninhabited and wild.

Remains of Circe.
Places to visit:
On the south side of the Mount, the so called Hot Quarter, lived the prehistoric man and in the Cave Guattari it was found one of the very few skulls of the man of Neanderthal in Italy, who lived between 250,000 and 40,000 years ago. In the park there are many prehistoric sea-caves: the Cave of Goats, of Fossellone, Barbara, of the witch Circe. There are remains of the Roman age (the Villa of Domiziano, between the forest and Paola Lake, and the cave with the source called “Source of Lucullo”) and towers from the 1500s.
Sabaudia: the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Sorresca on Paola lake.
St.
Felice Circeo : the Tower of the Templar Knights and the Baronal Palace where Lucrezia Borgia once lived; the Papal Towers; Circe’s Peak from where you can see the remains of the Temple of Witch Circe.
Zannone: the remains of the Benedectine-cloister.
Excursions:
The Cooperative Melacotogna (Quince) gives the possibility to make excursions by bycicle in the forest, or horse-walking in Molella area.
